cuddle quilts

I finished Ella and Madi’s quilts a few weeks ago. At first I thought they might be a bit busy for me, but I LOVE them.

I used orange and green for Madi’s.

And pink and green for Ella’s.

I used this pattern from the Polka Dot Chair. I did make a few changes, but it was super simple and would be a great project for beginning quilters. Ella’s quilt was what I worked on at my girlfriends’ getaway in St. George in November. I completed the front, borders and back by the second day.

Jen quilted *heart* gamma in Madi’s and *heart* momma in Ella’s.

The hidden shape in both quilts is a butterfly. It’s hard to see in the photo, but it’s right on top of the large flower. So darling!

I used some extra fabric strips on the back and took a piece from Ella’s quilt and put it on Madi’s and vice versa.

I can’t wait to give them to them for Christmas. I know they’ll be tossed aside for the fun toys, but I think they’ll enjoy them later.

Next project is a quilt for Ella’s new bed. I think I’ve already found the pattern I’m using, now I just need fabric.

  1. Kim,

I love these quilts. Makes me want to make one for me. I have actually been making some extra baby quilts to have on hand and I think these would be a great pattern to use lots of extra scraps left over from quilts. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Oh, I have such respect for quilters. Through watching two of my sisters who regularly quilt, I have learned how much time (and even money) goes into making a hand-made quilt. I have never made one myself, but I would like to try someday. The ones you made are beautiful! Your girls will love them.

  3. Such Darling quilts! Someday they will cherish them!

  5. The link didn't work for the quilt pattern. What is the name of the quilt pattern?

  6. Keri,
It's called a brick pattern. I re-did the link so it should work now. Sorry about that. Thanks for the heads-up.

  7. These quilts are gorgeous! I never thought I would enjoy making a quilt but I have to try this. And of course I love this fabric! I know I've seen it around but now I can't remember where, is it Riley Blake? Thanks for sharing!!

  9. Thanks, Tammy. Yes, these are Riley Blake fabrics. I really need to venture out a bit more, all but one of the quilts I've made use a line from Riley Blake. Love them!

  10. What is the fabric called that you used? LOVE these quilts and my sister is having a baby. I think the pink would be perfect!

  11. It's called Summer Song. It's a Riley Blake fabric designed by Marcia Cornell of My Mind's Eye. I think the line would be great for a baby quilt--if you can still find it--because the baby wouldn't outgrow it quickly.

  12. Can you tell me what are is the size of your "bricks"

  13. Thank you! I've been searching for a quick easy quilt for my daughter for Christmas! I bought some horse fabric scraps with coordinating pre-cut pieces and this will work perfectly!

    1. You're welcome! Sounds like a fun quilt.
